PORTRAIT AND EVENTS PHOTOGRAPHER

 hey there

I’m lindsay

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by in my little corner of the internet. The art of photography is so much more than just pressing the shutter on a camera. It’s the collaboration between the photographer and the subject. Artist and muse. It requires trust, a space where you can be free to be your best self and a dash of good luck.

With that in mind, I think it’s important you get to know a little about me so you can decide if I’m the right photographer for you…

Aside from being the sole photographer and editor of this business, I’m also a single mother to five children, four of which are still living at home with me in my big, old, work-in-progress Queenslander. I absolutely love old homes and always have. I love the history, the character and the feel of them and of all the old homes I’ve lived in, this one is probably my favourite. I also love the Australian outback and whilst I’m currently very much a townie, living smack bang in the centre of Mackay, one day I dream of having some land with rambling gardens, a potting wheel, some chickens and maybe a horse or two. Until then, it’s just me, the kids, my 8 year old Maltese shitzu Millie, my ridiculous grey and white cat Winston and a couple of rescued ginger cats with silly names that I try and pass off as the same cat to the neighbours when they start asking questions.

Like everyone, I have had my fair share of ups and downs yet I feel my life is richer for it and through hardship and failure comes the blessing of being able to empathise with people from all walks of life. My focus at present is on raising my kids, restoring my house, remembering to stay present and continuing to improve my craft so that I can learn new ways to capture and share the stories of this thing we call life.

I can’t imagine doing anything else

In 2015, I purchased my first camera so that I could document my own 5 children who were growing up faster than I could handle. From there, friends asked me to take their pictures and before I knew it, friends of those friends started reaching out asking me to capture their families.

Everything just grew from there and I am honestly so grateful to be on this journey. I have met so many wonderful people, been privy to extremely touching moments and occasions and have grown so much as a person through both the people I’ve met and the challenges I have faced along the way. I have been invited into people’s lives to capture once in a lifetime events that very few get to be a part of. From proposals to weddings, pregnancies to births and even the not so often talked about but equally life changing experiences like still birth, cancer, end of life and grief, I have been welcomed into people’s lives, homes and hospital rooms to capture very intimate and important memories that have all impacted how I view life and it has been an honour to photograph every single person who has come in front of my lens.

I am a collector (aka hoarder) of random vintage items including cameras and old film photographs. Vintage photographs bring me so much joy! I literally tear up looking at them.

Along with my every growing collection of thrifted cameras, I recently inherited my grandfathers camera and a large collection of old family photographs - many of which were taken with the camera and I am so grateful to be able to peer back in time at generations past.

I carry the knowledge that many of the photographs I take may one day leave the same legacy to future generations and this brings me so much happiness. This is another reason I am now including prints with all my packages.

I love all the creative things; cooking, gardening, art and fashion. I love connecting with other creatives and collaborating on projects and especially helping my fellow photographers grow their businesses.
